Your customer asks a question.
Someone’s name is in the answer.
The search field is changing to display a result. The result is not a list of links from which the customer chooses — it is a single paragraph mentioning two or three companies by name. This page explains how to get included amongst them. Even if you have the work done by someone else.
BEFORE YOU ORDER ANYTHING
Four things you should know about AI optimisation
The industry is full of abbreviations. These four are what it’s really all about.
Artificial intelligence doesn’t remember you — it finds you
The language template does not contain any information about your company. When someone asks a question, it searches for sources on the spot and compiles a response from them. So it’s not about brand recognition, but rather whether your site can be found and whether it’s suitable for citation at that precise moment.
It borrows whatever can be borrowed
A quotable section answers a single question on its own and includes a figure: price, delivery time or quantity. A page that says ‘get in touch and we’ll see’ doesn’t provide anything quotable — and so it isn’t quoted.
The system needs to recognise that you are a single business
If the name, address or business registration number differs across different directories, the search engine will see two companies instead of one — and neither is a strong result. Sorting this out is often the first and cheapest fix, and it should be done before anything else.
Search engine optimisation isn’t an option – it’s the foundation
Artificial intelligence retrieves its data from the same network as a search engine: the page must load, be readable even without browser-based code, and reveal its structure to the machine. Anyone selling just GEO without this foundation is selling a roof without walls.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE MONTHLY FEE
First, the company details. Then the structure. Then the content.
Company details refer to what machines believe about you: name, address, telephone number and business registration number must be consistent across the board, so that search engines and artificial intelligence recognise all mentions as belonging to the same company (the technical term for this is ‘entity’). In this order, because work done in the wrong order is wasted: brilliant content on a website that machines cannot link to you is of no use to anyone.
The work starts with what’s broken — not with what’s easiest to sell.
HOW IT’S DONE
The first result is an indication of where we’re heading.
We don’t start by guessing what needs optimising.
Inventory
What the machines think of you right now: where you can be found, what it says there, and where the information is inconsistent. You’ll receive a list that you can read for yourself.
Get your company details in order
Contact details standardised across the board, company profile in order, errors in directories corrected. The most tedious stage, and often the one that makes the biggest difference.
Structure and content
Machine-readable company information added to the site, FAQs written, technical barriers removed. From now on, the site will be machine-readable.
Tracking and adding content
New questions every month, and the log shows which search engine bots visited the site. Visibility is not a project with an end date.
PRICE
Set-up fee and monthly fee. Minimum six-month contract.
Maintaining visibility is an ongoing task, as trends change and competitors never rest. A monthly fee keeps the work going without the need for a separate project invoice every six months.
If your website was created by someone else, that’s fine — we’ll first check whether there are any technical issues, and we’ll be honest with you if there are.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Frequently asked questions.
Can you promise that I’ll appear in ChatGPT’s responses?
We can’t, and neither can anyone else. Answers are generated instantly and cannot be bought. What we can influence is ensuring your website is discoverable, machine-readable and in a format suitable for citation — and that your company’s information is consistent across the web. Everyone who ends up with the answers does these things; they’re just not enough on their own to guarantee success.
What’s the difference between SEO and GEO?
Search engine optimisation aims to ensure your page appears in the search results. Generative optimisation aims to ensure your page is the source from which the answer is cited. The work is largely the same — speed, structure, clarity — but the emphasis differs: search engines reward comprehensiveness, whilst the language model rewards quotability. That is why we sell them as a single package rather than two separate ones.
Will this work if my website was built by someone else?
It works, and a large proportion of our clients are exactly like this. First, we check whether the site is accessible and whether there are any technical barriers — for example, content generated by code that runs only in the browser, or a plug-in that blocks search engine crawlers. If the barrier is such that it cannot be circumvented, we’ll let you know before we charge you anything.
How quickly will I see results?
Corrections to company details appear in directories within days and in search results within weeks. The accumulation of mentions in AI-generated responses is slower and more uneven, as different services update their sources at different rates. The first-month report shows which search bots have visited the site — this is the first measurable sign that the work is paying off.
What if I terminate the contract?
Everything you’ve created remains yours: the machine-readable data is in your site’s code, the written content is yours, and the corrected index data remains corrected. You lose the tracking and new content, but not the work you’ve done. The website is not locked into any of our services.
